FAQ On Parivahan
Procedure of Re-Registration of already registered motor vehicles brought from one state to other state :
The documents required are as under :
** Other state registration certificate in original.
** Form 28 (NOC in duplicate)
** Form 27
** Form 20
** Attested copy of address proof.
** Attested copy of valid insurance.
** Attested copy of pollution under control certificate.
** Fitness certificate in case of commercial vehicle only.
** Road tax (as applicable)
** Prescribed fee for registration.
** PAN Card or Form 60 & Form 61(as applicable)
Note : Such registration of vehicle in some of the states are subject to clearance from National Crime Record Bureau. The Transport Department arranges the clearance certificate themselves.
2. Procedure for Transfer of Ownership on Registration Certificate :
The transfer of ownership of a vehicle is to be applied in the concerned Registering Authority Office where vehicle is already registered and following are the documents to be submitted
** Registration certificate in original
** Form 29 duly filled in duplicate (attested one copy)
** Form 30 duly filled in duplicate
** Attested copy of valid insurance certificate
** Attested copy of address proof of purchaser
** Attested copy of valid Pollution Under Control Certificate
** Prescribed fee
** Attested copy of PAN Card or Form 60 & Form 61 (as applicable)

The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) has been facilitating computerization of over 1000 Road Transport Offices (RTOs) across the country.
RTOs issue Registration Certificate (RC) & Driving License (DL) that are mandatory requirements and are valid across the country, subject to certain provisions and permissions.
With wide variations in state policies and manual/ system based procedures being followed across the country, it had become necessary to define same standards for these documents on a pan-India level to ensure interoperability, correctness and timely availability of information.
SCOSTA committee setup for this purpose had recommended a uniform standardized software across the country.

Functions of Parivahan Sewa
Parivahan Sewa is an online portal that provides a range of services related to vehicles and driving licenses. It was launched by the Government of India in 2016. The portal is designed to make it easier for citizens to access these services, and to reduce the time and effort required.

Additional Simplified Procedure
You can check the status of your driving license online through the Parivahan portal.
Here are the steps on how to do it:
1. Go to the Parivahan website: https://parivahan.gov.in/.
2. Click on the “Driving License” tab.
3. Click on the “Application Status” link.
4. Enter your driving license number or application number.
5. Enter the security code.
6. Click on the “Submit” button.
You will be able to see the status of your driving license application. The status will be one of the following:
** Pending: Your application is still pending.
** Approved: Your application has been approved and your driving license is being processed.
** Dispatched: Your driving license has been dispatched and will be delivered to your address.
** Received: You have received your driving license.
Here are some additional tips for checking the status of your driving license online:
** Make sure you have your driving license number or application number handy.
** Enter the security code carefully.
** If you have forgotten your driving license number or application number, you can contact the RTO office where you applied for your driving license.
** Be patient. It may take a few minutes for the status to be updated.
