RTO Karnataka Transfer of Ownership

Application & Documents to be produced :
** Form no 29 in duplicate.
** Form no. 30. If vehicle is covered under Hypothecation/HPA/Lease form CMV 30 shall be produced in duplicate with the consent of financier.

Fees :

** Rs 35/- for two wheelers

** Rs. 305/- for Heavy Goods/Passenger vehicles.

** Rs. 105/- for imported motor cycles.
** Rs. 155/- for other vehicles not mentioned above.
** HP continuation fee of Rs 100/- if the vehicle s covered by Hypothecation/HPA/Lease Agreement.

Compounding Fees :
**If the application is not made within 14 days from the date of transfer of ownership, compounding fee of Rs 25/- per month for delay subject to a maximum of Rs100/- shall be paid.* Application along with above documents shall be submitted at the Registration Section.

Procedure :
** Registered owner should appear in person.
** Vehicle should be produced for inspection
** Tax and fees can be paid at the cash counter and obtain challans .
** Application along with the documents noted above to be [produced before the superintendent for verification who in turn refers the papers for inspection.
** After inspection of the MV by IMV submit all the papers at the inward counter and obtain acknowledgement.

RTO Karnataka Delivery of Documents
**Documents of non-transport vehicles will be delivered on the next day between 4-30pm and 5-30 pm
**Document of transport vehicles will be delivered after 2 days between 4-30pm and 5-30 pm.

About Us :
The Department of Transport was constituted by Government Order No.T6811:6865 RT :53-54:10 Dated 03-03-1955 vide Notification 4285-98 MV-23-56-57 Dated 27-08-1956. Then it was named as Motor Vehicles Department. Thereafter, the Department was re-named as TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT.

Form CMVR 33, CMVR 27, KMVT 14 are to be filled up One photo has to be affixed on form CMVR 27 .

Functions of RTO Karnataka

The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Karnataka is responsible for the following functions:

Additional Simplified Procedure

Here are the steps on how to apply for RTO Karnataka Transfer of Ownership online:
1. Go to the Vahan Karnataka website: https://vahan.parivahan.gov.in/vahanservice/
2. Click on the “Online Services” tab.
3. Click on the “Transfer of Ownership” link.
4. You will be asked to create a login ID and password.
5. Once you have created a login ID and password, you will be able to log in to the Vahan Karnataka portal.
6. On the Vahan Karnataka portal, you will need to fill out the Transfer of Ownership Form.

7. The Transfer of Ownership Form will ask you to provide the following information:
** Your name
** Your address
** Your mobile number
** Your email address
** The vehicle registration number
** The chassis number
** The engine number
** The old owner’s details
** The new owner’s details

8. Once you have filled out the Transfer of Ownership Form, you will need to upload the following documents:
** A copy of your Aadhaar card
** A copy of your driving license
** A copy of the vehicle registration certificate
** A copy of the insurance certificate
** A copy of the sale agreement

9. Once you have uploaded the documents, you will need to submit the Transfer of Ownership Form.
10. Your Transfer of Ownership Form will be reviewed by the RTO.
11. If your Transfer of Ownership Form is approved, you will be issued a new registration certificate.
