Custom Duty Concession Certificate :

The Government of India provides concessional duty for “project imports”.

Under this scheme Indian companies can import machines required for initial setting up of their new projects/units or substantial expansion of their existing units (exceeding 25% of the existing capacity) at lesser rate of customs duty of 5% than the normal duty (often basic rate is 7.5% or above).

Under the procedures,the Customs Authorities require recommendation on essentially of the import with certified list of items proposed to be imported from the concerned Administrative Ministries.

To avail the facility,project authorities/units are required to approach their Administrative Ministries seeking technical essentially of the proposed items of imports for the proposed project.

The Administrative Ministries examine the essentially of the machines & equipment considering their specifications as per the approved project capacity and recommend the proposals to the Customs for the facility after ascertaining the eligibility and essentially availing the customs duty exemption in terms of the Customs Notification no. 12/2012 dated 17.3.2012, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance.

Below are the steps that applicant should follow while applying for ‘Issue of Custom Duty Concession Certificate’-service from eBiz portal :
** Applicant needs to firstly download application form for ‘Issue of Custom Duty Concession Certificate’ service from eBiz portal.

** Fill application form offline.
** Login to eBiz portal and upload the application form.
** Applicant need to make payment via eBiz payment gateway.

** On successful submission of application, application data is sent to department.
** Department user will receive submitted application and scrutinize to process application.

** Business user will be updated about status of application through processing stages. If objection is raised by department on application then applicant need to re-submit application after addressing objection comments.

** For successful scrutinized applications ‘Custom Duty Concession Certificate’ will be received by user electronically through eBiz Portal and also physically through post/courier.
Prerequisites : None

Payment Details : While submitting form through eBiz portal, applicant needs to pay nominal eBiz transaction fee.
Frequency of Invocation : Application for ‘Issue of Custom Duty Concession Certificate’ can be applied by applicant throughout the year.
