Procedure to obtain a license from WPC

** File the license application on-line in wpc.dot.gov.in in the appropriate category without skipping any steps
** After filling on-line, Read the Checklist Provided.

** After filling on-line, take a print out of the application ID.
** Submit a hard copy of the relevant application form along with a copy of the print out of application ID to WPC office / RLO as the case may be.
** Follow the subsequent instruction from WPC. Keep a watch on the status of the license application on the Web site.

It is adviced that users register to the WPC Web Site once and perform there activities using the same Login ID and Password.

WPC :
The WIRELESS PLANNING & COORDINATION (WPC) Wing of the Ministry of Communications, created in 1952, is the National Radio Regulatory Authority responsible for Frequency Spectrum Management, including licensing and caters for the needs of all wireless users (Government and Private) in the country.

It exercises the statutory functions of the Central Government and issues licenses to establish, maintain and operate wireless stations. WPC is divided into major sections like Licensing and Regulation (LR), New Technology Group (NTG) and Standing Advisory Committee on Radio Frequency Allocation (SACFA).

SACFA makes the recommendations on major frequency allocation issues, formulation of the frequency allocation plan, making recommendations on the various issues related to International Telecom Union (ITU), to sort out problems referred to the committee by various wireless users, Siting clearance of all wireless installations in the country etc.

3) You will be redirected to the Online Application page.

7) Upload the scanned copies of the required documents, such as the equipment certificate, manufacturer’s authorization letter, and test report.

  1. I have a wireless license for my pleasure craft (vessel). It was not renewed because of delay in registration of my boat. Now I am unable to register the vessel because I don’t have a valid wireless licence. Registration authority has revalidated the name till 2023, but online renewal is not possible as I want it in my personal name. I need guidance to obtain a new or renewed wireless license.

  2. I had applied for GMDSS renewal and submitted the application on 29th Sept 2020.
    I have not received any status of my GMDSS ( GOC ) renewal as yet.
    Please let me know when I can expect my license to be available and posted to my home address as instructed.
