How To Submit GBIC Ombudsman Complaint?

The Governing Body of Insurance Council (GBIC) has been established under Redressal of Public Grievances Rules 1998, to set-up and facilitate the Institution of Insurance Ombudsman in India.

The Governing Body of Insurance Council consists of one representative each from all insurance companies; the representative is required to be either the Chairman or Managing Director or a Director of the company represented.

Objective of RPG Rules (1998) – The objective of these Rules are to resolve all complaints relating to settlement of claim on the part of insurance companies in cost effective, efficient and impartial manner.

Procedure of GBIC Ombudsman Complaint

If you have an Insurance Policy on personal lines and have a grievance against an insurance Company complaint can be filed by Policyholder or claimant/legal heirs
** Please write to the Grievance Redressal Officer of the Insurance Company . Click here for contact details of Grievance Redressal Officers, GRO of all Insurance Companies.
** The insurance company should deal with your complaint within 30 days.
** If you are unhappy with the solution or if there is no response to your complaint from the GRO for 30 days, then you can approach the Office of Insurance Ombudsman as per jurisdiction for value of the claim including expenses not exceeding 20 lacs , within 1 year from date of rejection/repudiation/partial settlement of claim by the Insurer. ** You should not have approached any other forum/court/arbitrator on the same subject matter of your claim.
** The forum of Insurance Ombudsman does not charge any fees for filing the complaint

The Ombudsman may receive and consider complaints relating to the following:
** Partial or total repudiation of claims
** Delay in settlement of claims
** Disputes relating to premiums paid/payable
** Legal construction of the policies in so far as such disputes relate to claims.
** Non-issue of Insurance documents.

The complaint shall be in writing duly signed by the policyholder or claimant/ legal heirs. Click here to download Complaint form.

Send the Complaint letter alongwith the photocopies of the supporting documents as given hereunder to the Office of Insurance Ombudsman.
** Policy copy ( all pages of policy under which complaint is lodged)
** Copies of all old policies for covering of Insurance since last 48 months prior to this policy if claim is rejected on grounds of pre-existing diseases/waiting period.
** Repudiation/Denial letter/Partial settlement letter issued by the Insurance company.
** Representation to the Grievance Redressal of Insurance Company.
** Any other correspondence exchanged with Insurance Company & TPA.

To file a complaint with the GBIC Ombudsman, you will need to visit the GBIC Ombudsman website and fill out an online complaint form. You will need to provide the following information:
** Your name and contact information
** The name of the insurance company
** The policy number
** A brief description of the complaint

What happens after I file a complaint with the GBIC Ombudsman?
The GBIC Ombudsman will review your complaint and contact the insurance company. The Ombudsman will try to resolve the complaint through mediation. If mediation is unsuccessful, the Ombudsman will issue a decision. The decision of the Ombudsman is binding on both the policyholder and the insurance company.

  • Got the call from 954015XXXX - Aditya Varma(NPCI Sr Manager) - he asked me to send Aadhar, PAN, Photo/ Cancel Check, photo on Whatsup and share screenshot after payment of 25700/- to GBIC Service (HDFC AC no - 0998110XXXXXXX) for updating the correct account number in claim proposal no - 1403441XXXXX. Request you to please confirm is it realy i have to pay to update the information?

  • This so called GBIC is full of fraudies… so much money they have looted from my mom in the name of GST, Income tax, stamp duty etc. etc. Dinesh Dhingra, kunal, Chaturvedi, Bhandari, Rajeev Rai so many of them. All Fraudies

  • As I got a Call against my Complaint No.UTY001007823GBIC and said that my request has been solved and they are going to transfer my amount. Also said that to transfer 42K because my acccount has been blocked and re-active I need to do this.

    Once the account activates they are going to transfer my money back. I would like your support is this correct or not, Shall I transfer or not.

  • Hi i m jayprakash Patil from maharashtra I had a call from Mr Pritam झा and Abhinav Gupta they were saying they were the the employee of GBIC at Delhi they explained me about my policy and they will help me to get my money back stucked for that i was supposed to complete some pendency then came the income tax then GST then service tax then RTGS charges and after paying 3/3.5 lacs i was given open offers of 50000/ as a undertable amount to get is sanscationed and now my number is blocked I wrote several mails but no reply a very fraud people if anyone knows the official address of above two please let me know. regards

    2 yrs back i got call by Manish Agarwal from Mumbai GBIC related to my policy complain. Till august 2022 Mr Manish were connected for second time renew. after that i am trying to reach him but number is not reachable, another number is only what's up calling, there is no response. they claimed from my side for previous insurance company, they told me, the case was in court & i won, i want to know my amount how will i claim, i don't have any idea what should i do related to this. The amount was 3.6 Lakh. Behalf of this they assured me if i purchase 4 policy then i can claim. i purchased but now i m down for financially, and i am not capable to full fill all amount for the policy. i am not understanding what should i do. Can you help me.

  • I received a call from Rohan Malik. He convinced me to port my policy from One insurance company to Bharti AXA. Porting Number was generated by Ashish Aggarwal. He said that though policy tenure as per Bharti AXA is 12 years but you need to pay annual premium for 3 years and then you will get with interest money of your old insurance policy + new insurance policy. Is this scam or genuine? please confirm.

    • I too had similar experience. I think agents of Bharati Axa are also part of the cheating scam. Otherwise how they entertained application forms by third party. The middle men are also doing cut paste job of clients signature, which is criminal.

  • I had received many calls from GBIC specially Mr.Ravi Kapur. Afterthat, Mr.Raju Pandit mob& Shiv charan shukla from GBIC had emphasised me to deposit Fifty thousand as security deposit and service tax @ 27% of ten lakh. I have under his mind and deposited some amount on his given bank details in favour of Aviva life insurance. Both of their phones are dead after depositing. All are frauders including GBIC staff.

  • his name is abhinav Gupta as his saying.Some assholes fraud with me 2 years ago sold me saving policies in return of some loan sanction by called herself as bajaj finance executives. two days before this person abhinav called saying that he is from gbic department. they caught these asshole who fraud with u. gbic willing to pay ur amount which u invest two year ago. u have to pay some amount approx 25000/- share ur adhar bnk ac. no. etc. this msg is for orginal gbic and other people who suffered by there fraud. they are some people who done that fraud. I think so .

    there are few people calling from GBIC and stating that your XXX policy with XX company is not performing well and you have lodged complain with GBIC. They will hep us to settle the policy amount to good returns.

    I never raised such kind of complaint.
    Are these people are really working for customer issues on policies?

And saying they are from IGMS department and they saying that your issue is resolved and they have showing DD and ASKING to pay TDS amount. Please HELP THAT IS THEY ARE AUTHENTIC OR NOT.
