Mobile Banking Security Tips :
1.Device safety/Lock the device when not in use:
** Set your phone or tablet to automatically lock when not in use and use a unique password to unlock it.
** Choose a strong password to keep your account and data safe
** This password-protects your device so that nobody else can use it or view information. Also be sure to store your device in a safe location
** Set the maximum number of incorrect password submissions/login attempts no more than three
** Lost or changed your mobile phone number? Immediately inform Bank’s Mobile banking Cell, your service provider and law enforcement authorities

2. Keep the software, including security software on your device updated
** Just like your home computer, keep the security software on your mobile device up to date as well.
** To ensure your device is always operating off the latest systems, you should regularly check for software updates.
** Do not hack /modify your device (also known as Jail breaking) as this can leave it open to infection from a virus or Trojan.

** Fraudsters use infected applications and documents to spread malware and infect devices. To protect yourself against this, you should ensure you never open or download anything from a source you don’t know or trust. Use trusted apps- always download mobile apps from reputable sources

** Be careful about the websites you are browsing. If it does not look authentic, do not download anything from it.
** Be cautious while accepting offers such as caller tunes or dialer tunes or open/download emails or attachments from known or unknown sources.
** Do not follow any URL in message that you are not sure about.

3. Internet Security:
** Keep your mobile’s internet connection password protected

** Confirm the source of requests for your information. When a caller or text sender asks sensitive questions or directs you to take specific action such as dialing a number or visiting a Web site, confirm their identity before proceeding.

If there is any doubt, contact the organization directly using a number from an authoritative, independent source – not from the caller in question.

** Follow online security precautions. If you’re mobile device is Web-enabled (as most are these days), follow the same security precautions you use on your laptop computer.

4. Secure Browsing:
** Logout from mobile banking application after the transaction is over
** Don’t click on links embedded in emails/social networking sites claiming to be from the bank or representing the bank.
** Don’t transfer funds without due validation of the recipient, as funds once transferred cannot be reversed.
** Don’t store sensitive information such as card details, mobile banking passwords in a separate folder on your phone.
** Never reveal or write down MPINs or Transaction Password or retain any email or paper communication from the bank with regard to the MPIN or Transaction Password.
** Be careful about the websites you are browsing. If it does not look authentic, do not download anything from it.
** Disable Bluetooth when not in use. Disconnecting Bluetooth, a non-secure connection, helps prevent attackers from obtaining information or sending malicious code into your device.
