IGR Maharashtra Stamp Duty Refund

Stamp Duty Refund is a web application made available to Citizen by Stamps and Registration Department of Maharashtra State.

Stamp Refund Application

Stamp duty refund application allows a citizen to claim stamp duty refund in cases as – excess stamp duty or penalty paid, cancellation of registered agreement, return of unused stamp paper, cancellation of document where judicial stamp paper is required but non judicial used or vice a versa or stamp duty refund as per court order.

The citizen should submit the documents physically with the concerned office on the same day as submission of online application. Citizens can request for stamp duty refund by using this application from anywhere anytime.

The internal process of the department shall be physical with required details and progress being captured online. This will enable citizens to check status about their refund requests online.

In Document Details section, select one of the following :
** judicial Stamp : When refund of Judicial Stamp payment is intended.
** Non-Judicial Stamp : When refund of Non-Judicial Stamp payment is intended
** ourt Order : When refund through court order is intended

Acknowledgment :
If the application form is submitted successfully acknowledgment will be generated REFUND CODE is mentioned in red color, note down Refund code for further use or take print of acknowledgment.

How To View Status?

Status of submitted application can be checked using ‘View Status.’
** Enter Refund code.
** Enter the displaying Number.
** Click on search button to get processing status.

1. Who should file an application for the refund of stamp duty?
An application for the refund of stamp duty should be filed by the person/institution/company in whose name the stamp duty amount has been paid, or the persons legally empowered by them.

2. Where should one submit the application for refund of stamp duty?
The application for refund of stamp duty should be submitted to The Collector of Stamps in following steps, Firstly, online Application is to be made by using the website www.igrmaharashtra.gov.in under heading ‘Activities’ and place ‘Stamp Duty Refund’.

Thereafter, along with the token number received online, physical application duly signed in the prescribed form, should be submitted personally within prescribed time limit, to the Collector of Stamps in whose jurisdiction the stamps have been purchased along with all necessary papers.

3. Is there any time limit, for submitting refund of stamp duty application, in The Office of Collector of Stamps?
Yes! Are case wise different time limits for submitting refund of stamp duty application in the office of Collector of Stamps for to the office of Collector of Stamps which are as follows
1. Under Section 48(1), cases regarding executed documents. Within six months from execution
2. Under Proviso to Section 48(1), refund against Cancellation of an Agreement for Sale. Within two years of date of registered cancellation of document.

3. In cases of replacement of a document by other document. Within six months of date of replacement of a document.
4. In other cases. Within six months of purchase of stamp

4. What is the time limit prescribed for use of stamp, on purchase?
It is necessary to use a stamp ‘within 6 months’ from the date of its purchase. This means the document for which the stamps had been purchased, should be written and duly signed with date, within six months from the date of purchase of such stamps.

1. When I filled application for refund, I was informed by the lady at the stamp office at MMRDA Bandra east that the money would be routed to my bank account in 45 days. Now, nearly 60 days have past but, the bank has no reflection of the said refund. My refund codes are 2016/1021922, 2016/1021915 and 2016/1021917. Please inform the refund status.

2. We have done the refund process in July 2021. It’s almost 11 month over & due to a medical emergency, we are required to this money as early as possible for medical operation. We had also called IGR SARATHI Helpline for Refund Process, but they are saying they, don’t have any idea regarding refund.

  • We have done the refund process in July 2021. It's almost 11 month over & due to a medical emergency we are required to this money as early as possible for medical operation.

    We had also called IGR SARATHI Helpline for Refund Process , but they are saying they don't have any idea regarding refund.

    • Visit the IGR office and check the progress, there's no fixed timeline to receive refund. They work as per their convenience, helpline is useless they basically know nothing.

    • Lodge a complaint to - IGR Maharashtra.
      complaint AT igrmaharashtra.gov.in the helpline number is useless they know nothing.
      I am also waiting for refund since 8 months but no update as yet. It's your luck if they reply to your email.

  • I SUBMITTED MY REFUND FORM ON 16/6/2016. (MY REFUND CODE IS 2016/1014373) I WAS TOLD THAT, AMOUNT WILL BE TRANSFERRED IN MY ACCOUNT BEFORE THREE MONTHS, BUT SEVENTH MONTH IS GOING ON. I DON'T GET MY REFUND AMOUNT. PLEASE INFORM ME WHY IT IS SO LATE. WHAT IS THE REASON?
