The State Government has initiated various schemes for removal of untouchability through publicity, educational schemes, organising special programmes and providing opportunities to Scheduled Castes for Social & Economic developments. Grant of financial assistance to Inter-Caste Married Couples is one such programme.

Scheme:
Financial Assistance of Rs. 25,000/- is being given to Inter-Caste married couples. This is a Centrally sponsored scheme where the expenditure is shared equally by the State Government and Central Government i.e. 50:50

Description :
** Financial assistance of Rs. 25,000/- is given to Intercaste married couples. Out of this amount Rs. 12,500/- will be issued in the form of N.S.C. and remaining will be paid in cash.

** The bonafide of the applicants will be enquired into by Taluk Social Welfare Officer, concerned. The application and the enquiry report are forwarded to the Chief Executive Officer- Zilla Panchayat of the District for consideration through District Social Welfare Officer. Persons seeking such assistance should apply to the Taluk Social Welfare Officer of the concerned Taluk in the prescribed proforma.

Eligibility :
** Persons who contract Inter-caste marriage, either of the parties being a Scheduled Caste person.
** The total income of the couple should not exceed Rs. 24,000/- per annum.
** The assistance under the scheme shall be given only to the lawfully married couples whose marriage has been registered in a Registration Office, though they might have married under any custom.
** He/She will not be again eligible for the grant on account of second marriage

** Separate Income Certificate of husband and wife issued by competent authority
** Caste Certificate in prescribed proforma of husband and wife issued by the concerned authority.
** Joint photo of the couple.
** Residential Certificate issued by the concerned authority

Whom to approach :
Eligible couples shall make an application in the prescribed proforma along with relevant documents to the concerned Taluk Social Welfare Officer.

Time Schedule :
One month after the receipt of application
