KISSAN has conceptualized and implemented a dynamic module called Fertilizer Recommendation System (FRS), a new online recommendation system for the farmers.

This is the first time in the country such web based fertilizer recommendation system has been developed in close consultation with the department officials and yet another achievement of Kissan Kerala project by using and integrating appropriate IT tools and applications for the benefit of farming community.

This FRS would provide recommendation on fertilizers, based on the soil test reports provided to the farmers by various soil testing laboratories across the state. By using the farmer/user has to provide the basic details, details of the soil analysis report and also the preference of crop.

Using these data the system will automatically generate a detailed recommendation for the integrated management of farms by providing most accurate information on how to provide balanced nutrition.

The report will contain such details as the soil amendments to be made, organic manures top be used and also the quantity as well as the frequency of use of chemical fertilizers.

The system will also automatically create an archive of the recommendations, which has been provided to the farmers. This enables scientists and research personnel to conduct various analysis based on the soil history for better farm management and to provide better advisory services.

Note : The farmer ID is an Unique Identification number, generated by the software at the time of entering your soil sample analysis results, by the concerned soil testing laboratory.

All the district soil-testing laboratories in the state are connected via broadband Internet to update soil-testing results to the Kissan Kerala server on time to time.

Using this network, the soil sample analysis results are entered directly by the concerned officers from each district soil testing laboratories. Once the soil sample results are updated to the system, the unique farmer ID’s will be supplied to the individual farmers to access the recommendations.

The farmers are requested to contact your nearest Krishi Bhavan or District Soil Testing Laboratory to collect your unique farmer ID. Once, you have your unique farmer ID, you can use this service and generate fertilizer recommendations for your preferred crops.

The reports can be generated in english or malayalam.The malayalam reports are being generated using the malayalam unicode font.However, some machines will not display the malayalam text properly

1. What is Online Fertilizer Recommendation System
The “Fertilizer Recommendation System”, is a web-based information system, which provides recommendation on fertilizers, based on the soil test reports provided by various soil testing laboratories across the state.

The system is developed as part of the KISSAN Kerala project and is available at free of cost to the farming community.

2. How the system works
The necessary information on farmers and the details of soil analysis will be directly updated to a centralized database from the respective district soil testing laboratories and a unique farmer ID will be supplied to individual farmers to view/access their report.

Using the unique ID supplied by the soil-testing laboratory, the farmers can take fertilizer recommendation for their preferred crops.

3. What are the contents included in this recommendation report
The recommendation report will contain the details on the soil amendments to be made, organic manures to be used and also the quantity as well as frequency of use of chemical fertilizers for each crops.

4. How can I get my soil sample tested
For testing your soil sample, you are requested to contact your nearest Krishi Bhavan and seek the advice of the Agricultural Officer for further help. The soil samples will be sent to the concerned soil testing laboratory for testing and the result will be made available to you.

Once your soil sample is tested and analyzed, the details will be updated online to the system directly from the respective soil-testing laboratories.

5. How can I See my test results
Once your details are updated to the Kissan-Kerala Portal, the system will generate a unique ID, which will be intimated to you from the laboratory. By using this ID, you can retrieve the results and generate online fertilizer recommendation for your crop.

6. How many reports I can generate
There is no limit for generating reports for various crops. You can generate reports for various crops based on your interest.

7. Can I take a print out of this report
Yes. You can generate print out of your reports for future use.
8. How can I see my previous reports
The system will maintain all the previous reports generated by a user. You can see all the previous reports.
