Public Window Complaint Status :

Any citizen having any complaint regarding any matter in which Chandigarh Police has authority to act may submit a written complaint at the public window established at the ground floor entrance of the Chandigarh Police Headquarters, Sector 9, Chandigarh.

FAQs :
1. What is cognizable Offence ?
In Cr. PC, the offences are divided into two categories; one Cognizable and the other Non-cognizable.

Police is empowered to register the FIR and investigate only the cognizable offences. Police can arrest an accused involved in cognizable crime without the warrant from the Court.

2. What is Non-cognizable Offence ?
The category of offences as per Cr. PC in which Police can neither register the FIR nor can investigate or effect arrest without the express permission or directions from the court are known as Non-cognizable offences.

These mostly include minor offences such as abusing each other, minor scuffles without injuries, intimidation etc.

3. What is First Information Report (FIR) ?
Report pertaining to occurrence of a cognizable offence, received at the Police Station is called First Information Report, popularly known as FIR.

Since it is the first information about the cognizable offence, it is called First Information report. On receipt of this information police registers the report in a FIR Register and begins the investigation of the crime.

4. What to do if the Police Station refuses to register the FIR ?
If the Police Station refuses to register FIR, substance of the information in writing can be sent by post to the SSP Chandigarh. He, if satisfied that the information discloses the commission of a cognizable offence, shall get the FIR registered and investigated.

On 1st November, 1966, the newly formed Indian State of Haryana was carved out of the Eastern portion of Punjab. The city of Chandigarh was selected to be the joint capital of the states of Punjab and Haryana and declared as a Union Territory.

    PW201907516, Dated-30/4/2019-Forgery u/s-463,464 and 419 of IPC.

    I have logged a Complaint of Forgery of My signature by m/s Gulmohar Township India Ltd on 30-4-2019.

    I have given my Statement (Bainn) to Kuldip Singh S.I. sector-17,Police Station and they have send it to sector-19, Chandigarh.

    Yesterday a Phone came from sector-34, Police Station asking to give Statement, I told him that I had also given Statement to S.I. Kuldip Singh.

    I want to know Status of my Complaint.

  2. I have lodged a complaint under Cyber Crime with reference number PW201819356 on 21.11.18 at 11.52 A.M, but the progress in my case is still pending. May I request you to please intimate the position of my case?
