The key objectives of Jan Aushadhi Scheme are to make quality the hallmark of medicines by ensuring supplies throughout India to extend coverage of quality generic medicines, which would reduce and thereby redefine the unit cost of treatment per person. This will help provide access to prescription drugs or Over The Counter (OTC) drug in all therapeutic categories as generic equivalents, thus offering inexpensive medicines. Thus citizens throughout India can have access to high quality and affordable medicines.

Involvement of CSCs in this program :
Department of Pharmaceuticals aims to utilize Common Services Centers for offering generic Jan Aushadhi medicines via a pilot program. The program will enable provision of Jan Aushadhi services pan India through CSCs. VLEs can register for Jan Aushadhi medicine Store & sell affordable generic medicines via CSCs. Advantage to a VLE with this Scheme? :
With its implementation through CSCs, VLEs will be able to store and sell affordable high quality generic medicines through their CSC centres, as Jan Aushadhi store centres, thereby earning a commission on the M.R.P. mentioned on the strip.

Requirements for VLEs to register for Jan Aushadhi Medicine store :
Requirements for VLEs to register for Jan Aushadhi Medicine store are as given below.
REGISTER – Kindly Log onto 164.100.115.10/health/vle-registration and fill the form to register.
A. VLEs need to have either of the following qualification.
** Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm.)
** Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm.)
** Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm.)
** Doctorate in Pharmacy (Ph. D.)
Or
** VLEs can appoint a pharmacist with the required background
** VLE needs to apply for the drug license , as per the policies of the state government.
** In order to start the store, a Minimum required space is 120 sq. ft.

The Common Services Center Scheme (CSC) :
The Common Services Center Scheme is a part of the ambitious National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). The Scheme envisages the setting up of 100,000+ IT-enabled access points to be implemented in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). The Common Service Centers (CSCs) have been positioned as front end delivery outlets for delivery of Government as well as Private Sector services.

The CSC Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) :
Under the CSC Scheme, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has been formed, so that the Government can progressively migrate to an e-Governance platform and enable services through the CSC network. The CSC SPV which is named as CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd has been incorporated under the Companies Act 1956 on 16th July, 2009
