How To Register For TN Dental Renewal?

Under rule 58 (ii) of the Tamil Nadu Dental Council rules, every person whose registration is current and will hold good till the end of this year (2015) and who desires to continue his registration with the Tamil Nadu Dental Council for the next year, ie, 2016 should submit an application to the Registrar of the Council from 01.12.2015 to 31.03.2016. He/She should indicate in the application his/her present residential address.

According to the provision of Section 39 (1) & (2) of The Dentists Act, 1948, the fee prescribed for the above renewal (particulars furnished below) should be sent by every registered dentist to this office sufficiently early so as to reach this office on or before 31.03.2016. Failure to send the fee before the due date will render his/her name liable for removal from the register.

“Revised Dentists (Code of Ethics) Regulations 2014” is available on (i) DCI’s (New Delhi) Website – dciindia.org.in and (ii) Tamil Nadu Dental Council (Chennai) Website – tndentalcouncil.org

Annual Renewal Rs.200
Payment by DD – favouring, Tamil Nadu Dental Council, Chennai.

Documents to be submitted along with the Renewal form
1) Fee : Rs.220 /- payment by DD favouring Tamil Nadu Dental Council, payable at Chennai (cash not accepted).
2) A self-addressed envelope (size – 10” x 4”) affixed with Rs. 5/- Postal stamps.
3) Dentist should write his / her name & TN Dental Council registration number on the backside of the DD.
(Note :- No other documents to be attached)

Dental council Announcements :
All life-time registered dentists/annually renewing dentists are hereby requested to Re-register/renew their registration with permanent address every year. The DCI CDE regulations are voluntary. All life-time registered dentists need not pay any fee for Re-registration. The application form for Re-registration/renewal can be downloaded from this Office website.

Guidelines On TN Dental Renewal Registration

Uniform initial registration fees of Rs. 1200/- and a renewal fees of Rs. 200/- per annum or Rs. 1000/- for 5 years for registration with respective State dental Councils duly approved by the competent authority.

2. A system of Continuing Dental Education be introduced for dental Surgeons registered and to be registered within the sovereign Republic of India.
3. The said requirement of mandatory CDE points would be a prerequisite to being registered and licensed to pursue the Profession of Dentistry in India.

4. All registered Dental Surgeons would need to accomplish 100 points in 5 years (20 points of CDE per year). Out of these 20; 4 CDE points per year would be mandatory and verifiable.

It will be essential to achieve a minimum 15 and a maximum of 25 points a year. 10 points for asepsis and infection control and 5 points for dental jurisprudence over a period of 5 years are mandatory.

5. CDE programme would commence from 01 June 2009 and all dental surgeons registered to date on the rolls of the State Dental Councils would be subjected to these requirements.

The Tamil Nadu Dental Council is a statutory body constituted under section 21 of The Dentists Act, 1948 for the purpose of registering the dentists & regulating the profession of dentistry in Tamilnadu. The dentists registration tribunal was in existence from Feb 1949 to Feb 1951. The Tamil Nadu Dental Council was inaugurated in October 1952. The BDS course was started in August 1953.

Functions of Tamil Nadu Dental Council

The TNDC has a number of functions, including:
** Registering dentists and dental institutions in Tamil Nadu.
** Maintaining a register of dentists and dental institutions.
** Issuing practicing licenses to dentists.
** Conducting inspections of dental institutions.
** Taking disciplinary action against dentists who violate the Dentists Act, 1948.
** Promoting the development of dentistry in Tamil Nadu.
