** Certificate from the Principal of the concerned Medical College, certifying passing of the MBBS Exam and period of Internship with photograph and signature of the candidate, duly attested.
** Three copies of photograph, duly signed by the candidate on the front, of which one copy to be affixed on the application.

Duplicate Provisional Registration Certificate :
Procedure :
Declaration Form to be filled in and signed by the candidate, duly counter-signed by the Principal / Secretary of the Medical College & Hospital wherein the candidate is / was attached for doing his / her Internship Training.

Documents required :
Original along with a copy of the Degree and or Mark-sheet of the Final Examination, on whose basis the Provisional Registration was granted.

Prescribed Fee
: Rs. 400.00 ( Rupees Four Hundred ) only payable in Cash or through Demand Draft drawn in favour of “West Bengal Medical Council” and payable in Kolkata.
A general diary / FIR be lodged with a Police Station, reporting the loss of certificate and copy of the same be furnished.

copies of colour photographs ( size 25 mm x 35 mm ) should be furnished along with the application, of which 1 ( one ) be affixed at the appropriate space in the application and should be duly attested by the Principal / Secretary of the Medical College & Hospital, where the candidate is doing his / her Internship Training.

About us :
The Council is administered by a Committee of members constituted for a period of 5 years consisting of Registered Medical Personnel nominated by Govt. of West Bengal, representatives of Medical Colleges of the State and the members elected by the General Members of the Council to attain the following objectives of the Council for the benefit of the General Public :

To register qualified medical graduates required for practicing in the State in order to prevent practice by unqualified persons. A register is maintained by this Council for the Registered Medical Practitioners.

To watch the standard of Training and Examinations in the Medical Colleges & Hospital or the institutions already recognized or desirous to be recognized.

FAQs :
Who can be registered with the West Bengal Medical Council?
A citizen of India possessing basic medical qualification as per schedule of Medical Council of India can be registered on completion of requisite formalities.

What a registered doctor can perform?
a. Can hold office as physician or surgeon or any other office (by whatever designation called) in Government or in any institution maintained by a local or other authority;
b. Can practice medicine in any State;

c. Can be entitled to sign or authenticate a medical or fitness certificate or any other certificate required by any law to be signed or authenticated by a duly qualified medical practitioner:

d. Can be entitled to give evidence at any inquest or in any court of law as an expert under section 45 of the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 on any matter relating to medicine.

Whether a person possessing basic qualification MBBS can practice in all disciplines?
An MBBS doctor is not debarred from practicing to any branch of medicine under the present Bengal Medical Act 1914 provided the candidate has sufficient exposure in the branch and/or in the particular discipline to gain proficiency and/or confidence in dealing with such cases belonging to discipline concerned.

However, considering medico legal aspect, it is necessary to have a degree/diploma in the particular subject for independent practice.
