Mahavat e-Payment of Sales Tax

** Step 1- Login Page, Enter you 11 digits TIN and Click “Sign In” Button.
** Step 2 Select the ACT for which Payment is to be made from the Dropdown Menu

** Step 3- Select the Location of the Sales Tax Office from the Drop Down menu
** Step 4- Select “From Date” & “To Date” from the Calendar
** Step 5-Enter the Amount under Respective Heads
** Step 6- Select Form ID from the Dropdown Menu, Fields in Remark Column gets automatically populated. Use option “Other” for making payment other than Return Dues & then select appropriate option from “Remark” d rop downmenu.
** Step 7-Enter the Password of e-Services
** Step 8- Select the Bank from the Dropdown Menu in which you are having Net Banking Account.
** Step 9- Validate the Payment Details; “PAY” BUTTON will get a ctivated.
** Step 10- After Clicking “PAY” Button, GRN will be generated and payment summary Page will be opened.
** Step 11-After Clicking PAY Button of Payment Summary, you will be directedto respective Banks Net Banking Page for making e-Pa yment.
Continue with the Banks User ID & Password and foll ow the PaymentProcedure as directed by the respective banks and take a printout ofthe e-payment Acknowledgement.

FAQ On Mahavat e-Payment of Sales Tax

This is the facility provided to the dealer to make sales tax payments on line using net- banking facility.

Is it mandatory to pay sales tax on line :
From Feb.2010 e-payment facility was made optional. On the basis of the response given by the dealers to this optional e-payment, it was made mandatory from 1st June 2010 for monthly return filers and now for quarterly return filers it is made mandatory from 1st October-2010.

use this facility to pay sales tax :
(a) You have a bank account with net-banking facility, and
(b) Your bank is provided with e-payment facility link on MSTD website.
(c) Alternatively, you can directly go to authorized Bank’s website for making e-payments of Sales Tax.

Sales tax was first introduced in India in the province of Bombay, where a tax was imposed on sales of tobacco within certain very limited urban and suburban areas by the Bombay Tobacco (Amendment) Act, 1938, which came into force on the 24th March, 1938.In the Central provinces & levy, again a selective one, on motor spirit and lubricants alone was introduced in January, 1939.
