FAQ On Aadhaar SSUP Portal

Who can use this portal?
Any resident with a mobile number can update their profile using this portal. Mobile number is mandatory to receive password for login.

What all information can be updated through this portal?
Residents can update Name, Address, Gender, Date of Birth, Mobile Number and Email ID through this portal. For other updates, please visit Aadhaar Enrollment / Update Center. Click here for detailed instructions on submitting Aadhaar Update/ Correction requests through this portal. No documents required to be submitted for Mobile and Gender correction.

What are the documents required to be submitted along with an update request?
Depending on the field to be updated, attach original scanned (with color scanner) copies of supporting documents as per the Valid Documents List. Please Refer Link for valid documents.

Will resident information be Updated immediately after submission of request?
Submission of information for update does not guarantee update of Aadhaar data. The information submitted is subject to verification and validation.

1. You must have registered mobile number to update any of the above information in your Aadhaar using this update portal.
Note: Registered mobile number is the number provided at the time of enrolment or updated subsequently

2. If you have registered mobile number with Aadhaar, enter your Aadhaar Number to get an OTP (One Time Pin) at that mobile. If you have not registered your mobile with Aadhaar or you have lost/do not possess anymore, you will have to visit nearest Update Centre.

3. Enter OTP and Captcha to login to the Update Portal.
4. Select the information you want to be updated /corrected. You can select more than one information to update in Aadhaar.

5. Fill the fields with the details to be updated in English as well as in Local Language.
a. If you are correcting your Name. Write full name without salutations/titles. For example do not write Dr. /Mr. /Col. etc

b. If you are correcting Date of Birth. Fill in Date of Birth in DDMMYYYY format. You can update Date of Birth from Declared to Verified only once. In case your Verified Date of Birth is incorrect in the Aadhaar letter, you can get it corrected only once.

c. If you are correcting Address. Write complete address. The Aadhaar letter with updated address will be delivered at the given address only.

– In case you face any issues with the Pin Code and related data (State/District/Village/Town/City/Post office), contact UIDAI contact centre at help@uidai.gov.in.

– To include Guardian/ Parent/Spouse Name as part of the address, select the Address correction option. Then select appropriate box in C/o details and enter the name of the person in the subsequent field. C/o details can be updated as a part of Address update.

It is not mandatory to provide C/O details while correcting you address in Aadhaar

– You are required to fill the complete address and upload supporting PoA even if you want to update/correct only C/o details. It is ok if C/o details are not mentioned in your PoA document.

6. Depending on the information to be updated, upload original scanned (with color scanner) copies of supporting documents as per the Valid Documents List. Refer Link for valid documents.
a. Name Correction/Update : Requires PoI listed in “Supported Proof of Identity(PoI) Documents Containing Name and Photo for Name Corrections/Update”
b. Date of Birth Correction : Requires DoB listed in “Supported Proof of Date of Birth (DoB) Documents”
c. Address Corrections/Change : Requires PoA listed in “Supported Proof of Address (PoA) Documents Containing Name and Address”
d. Email ID,Mobile and Gender Change: No documents Required to be submitted for Mobile and Gender correction.

Benefits of Aadhaar SSUP Portal

The Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal (SSUP) is a web-based portal that allows Aadhaar cardholders to update their demographic information online. The portal is available in 12 languages and can be accessed from any internet-enabled device.

** Convenience: The SSUP allows Aadhaar cardholders to update their information without having to visit an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre. This can save time and effort, especially for those who live in remote areas or have difficulty getting to an enrolment centre.
** Speed: The SSUP typically processes update requests within 15 days. This is much faster than the process of updating your Aadhaar information at an enrolment centre, which can take up to 30 days.
** Cost: The SSUP charges a fee of ₹50 for each update request. This is less than the fee charged for updating your Aadhaar information at an enrolment centre, which is ₹100.

Additional Simplified Procedure

You can access the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal (SSUP) by following these steps:
1. Go to the SSUP website: https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/
2. Click on the “Login” button.
3. Enter your Aadhaar number and captcha.
4. Click on the “Login” button.
5. Select the details you want to update.
6. Upload the supporting documents.
7. Pay the update fee.
8. Submit your request.

You will receive an update request number (URN) on your registered mobile number once your request is submitted. You can track the status of your request by entering the URN on the SSUP website.

Here are some important things to note:
** You can update your Aadhaar details online only if your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar.
** You can update your address, name, date of birth, gender, and language preferences online.
** You cannot update your biometrics (fingerprints, iris, and photograph) online.
** The update fee for updating your Aadhaar details is Rs. 50.
