Maharashtra is a land of tourism opportunities. With increase in the infrastructure and accessibility, domestic as well as international tourists are flocking to the interiors of Maharashtra.

In order to provide clean and affordable accommodation and food facility for tourists, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation has launched the scheme. It is based on paying guest concept (similar to Home stay), along with stay, one can also get local cuisine, especially local delicacies in affordable prices.
The main objective of this scheme is to create a wide network of affordable stays at lesser known places of tourist interest thus creating an experience to cherish.
Currently more than 1100 houses/bungalows are registered under this scheme across Maharashtra. One can find all types of rooms from basic to luxury, based on the amenities provided inside the rooms and variety of food available.
As they are operated by families, they are ideal showcase for experiencing joint family systems still existing in Indian culture. As Safety and security of the tourists is of important concern to us; these units are ideal for Families, Single women travelers or senior citizens.
Even though there are variety of rooms available in terms of budget and ambience, MTDC has insisted on certain standardization of factors like Cleanliness, necessary amenities, affordable prices and efficient hospitality services.
Many Bed and Breakfast units also provide tourism based activities like working on farms, trekking, local games, local cuisine, etc…
This scheme has empowered the local communities and triggerd the multiplier and the economy, nevertheless, creating immense potential and additional accommodation inventory in the unorganized sector.
As a part of the responsible tourism movement, the B&B scheme of Maharashtra Tourism has been hailed as a sustainable approach to the development of this segment in the state.
About Us :
Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has been established under the Companies Act, 1956, (fully owned by Govt. of Maharashtra) for systematic development of tourism on commercial lines, with an authorized share capital of Rs. 25 crore. The paid up share capital of the Corporation as on 31st March 2013 is Rs. 1538.88 lakhs.
The Corporation receives from the State Government financial assistance in the form of share capital and grants. The State Government has entrusted all commercial and promotional tourism activities to this Corporation.
MTDC has, since its inception, been involved in the development and maintenance of the various tourist locations of Maharashtra. MTDC owns and maintains resorts at all key tourist centers and having more resorts is on the plan.
