Features of TNPDS

The Tamil Nadu Public Distribution System (TNPDS) is a government-run system that provides subsidized food grains, sugar, and kerosene to eligible households in Tamil Nadu. The TNPDS has a number of features that make it a more efficient and effective system than the previous system of ration cards.

Some of the key features of the TNPDS include:
** Smart ration cards: The TNPDS uses smart ration cards that are linked to the Aadhaar card. This allows the government to track the distribution of food grains and ensure that they reach the intended beneficiaries.
** Biometric authentication: The TNPDS uses biometric authentication to ensure that only eligible individuals can purchase food grains from fair price shops. This helps to prevent fraud and leakages in the system.
** Online registration: The TNPDS allows citizens to apply for ration cards online. This makes the process more convenient and accessible for citizens.
** SMS alerts: The TNPDS sends SMS alerts to cardholders about the availability of food grains and other important information. This helps to ensure that cardholders are aware of their entitlements and can make informed decisions about their purchases.
