1) What is an F.I.R ?
F.I.R. means First Information Report, made to police, about commission of a cognizable offence, In effect, it amounts to putting law in to motion by giving information relating to the commission of a cognizable offence to an officer in charge of a police station, (which shall be reduced into writing and read over to the informant) and shall be signed by the person giving such information.
It is mandatory to give a copy of the first information report (as recorded by police) to the complainant or informant free of cost.
2 ) How do I lodge F.I.R.?
The informant/ complainant should go to the police station having jurisdiction over the area (where the offence is committed) and report to officer in-charge/ station house officer about commission of a cognizable offence.
In case information is given on telephone, the informant / complainant should subsequently go to the police station for registration of F.I.R.
3 ) What is a cognizable case or What is cognizable offence ?
A cognizable case means a case in which a police officer may, in accordance with the First Schedule of Cr.P.C. (1973), or under any other law for the time being in force, arrest without warrant.
4 ) What is the meaning of the term taking cognizance ?
The term taking cognizance has not been defined in Code of Criminal Procedure. When any Magistrate takes cognizance under section 190 (1) (a) Cr.P.C., he must not only have applied his mind to the contents of the petition, but he must have done so for the purpose of proceeding in a particular way as per procedure prescribed in the Cr.P.C., and there after sending the complaint for further enquiry. A magistrate can also order investigations under section 156(3) of Cr.P.C.
5 ) What is a Non cognizable offence ?
Non cognizable offence means in which a police officer has no authority to arrest without warrant.
6. I cannot upload documents event though the size is barely 20kb. It still gives an error that the file size cannot exceed 100kb. What should I do next?
Do it in paint. There go to resize and uncheck the maintain aspects and then type the required size which is on the pcs site when you try to upload document it will reflect the size.
7. I am unable to print my character certificate from MahaOnline Site. How can I do it?
Remove your popup blocker before you click download.
8. How to upload signature? Its asking for particular size and pixel.
Edit the signature in Paint according to required size and pixel and then try to upload it.
9. What is dimension of the signature?
It should be lesser than 50kb. The same way how you upload your photo & signature for online admission.

1. The below message appears each time I enter my Aadhaar number “UID Service is not Responding. Please try again”. Website is not accepting the Aadhaar number. Please resolve this issue urgently.
Answer : You can process further without providing Aadhaar number. Apply with phone number.
2. Even after following their guidelines on the format, file size, and file name, I am not able to upload my documents on the portal.
Answer: You can upload documents after removing space in the documents name.
3. I am not receiving OTP during registration time. Second time, when I try to fill the form again, it shows number already used.
4. My money is debited 2 times (UPI) but shows fees not paid. Also showing invalid credentials for correct username and password.
5. I am not sure who has made this website. In one hand, we are encouraging digital platform. But we are designing this kind of disgusting web site. All the file size are under 75-100 KB, There is no special character. File names are simple. There is no space between name. All the files are in.jpg. Then why the hell, it is still showing invalid file name and character. It does not even showing which file is causing issue.
6. All my documents are between than 75Kb to 100 KB file size and in JPEG format. Yet the site still throws error message “File size Invalid or Invalid File Name. Please Upload file having size between 75kb to 100kb”. There is no explanation which file is causing problems etc. The file names are simple too. No special characters. But nothing works at all, is there anyone to help? As many other users facing the same problem!
Answer: Make sure there is no space in file name. for e.g. panphoto.jpg and not pan photo.jpg. Some videos are available on Youtube check those as well.
7. This is the worst Website Ever! File size is in limit, file name is simple without any special characters. I am still unable to upload my documents for police verification. I have been working on this online application for 4 hours, nothing seems to be working.
Answer: The document file name should not have any space/numbers/special characters. File size should not be less than 75 kb and not more than 100kb. Also better to have all lower case letters

sir I have selected wrong CP/SP office name while registration. How to change it?
There is no way to change the office. You have to re-register yourself with different mobile no. and then select the correct CP/SP office at the time of registration. That’s the only way unfortunately.

The problem is with your browser setting. Temporarily reduce your browser security settings to minimalistic and it will download the report. If you are using Google Crome, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Pop ups and redirects, use the option “Sites can send pop-ups and use redirects”.

Help Desk Number 022-25342926/ 25447990 is of Thane office, so unless you are in Thane, no point calling this number. The web page pops up error message when Aadhar number is entered, not helpful.

For those having a problem while trying to register, if UID Service is not Responding, then you have to fill the registration form carefully and the Aadhar number is not mandatory to register just skip it and you should be able to fill out the form.

Mike, with your payment receipt and other documents, you have to contact police station which you have selected while filling up information. Timings and document requirements are also written in police station. Go with all those documents with original and xerox copies and show them along with 2 person who lives nearby you with their ID and address proof in original. After verification of all these, they will submit their report online to police commissioner office and then it will be issued online

All applying for PCC online, skip UID column and proceed with application. All field marked red star is compulsory to be filled. The signature size is 5 to 20kb, 256 wide and 64 height pixels and for documents size is 75 to 100 kb. Hope this info helps.

I want to apply for Character Certificate. I have completed all the procedure till uploading of Photo & Signature, but strucked at uploading of documents. After reducing the documents size as prescribed but even after that showing notification file size invalid. Done numerous experiments but all gone in vain.
Can anybody help me? I required this on urgent basis. Please help.

ALL FILES CAN BE .jpg
ALSO THE NAME OF THE FILE HAS TO BE EXACT. SO RENAME FILES BEFORE UPLOADING
Eg :aadharcard.jpg, passport.jpg, birthcertificate.jpg and letterfromcompany.jpg etc
THERE CANNOT BE ANY SPACES OR SPELLING ERRORS OR RANDOM FILE NAMES.
I want no after LPS required to visit CFC or commissioner office. Please help.
This site is so terrible. After typing the aadhar number they are showing UID services are not running. So I am terribly stuck on the registration form itself. Please kindly tell us when this UID service will work.

The site is so terrible.
1. The pop up for error on uploading signature is only in Maharathi.
2. It does not state the dimensions. What on earth are we that do not read Maharati supposed to do. Even if I did it wouldn’t help. I am seriously frustrated with this site.
Can we have the Signature requirements written here please?! Width, Height, minimum size, maximum size. Thanks.
For signature it is 256 wide, 64 height, between 5 to 20 kb.
When will I receive my noc? It’s quite long procedure. Why is cfc taking so long?
Why do you offer online services when an applicant cannot go beyond the first field (Aadhar card) Get your act together and test it and then claim that you have an online application. This is just a waste of time.
I am also seeing UID service is not responding. Please try again. Is there a solution for this or should I keep trying? How did it work for others once you saw the error?
When I get my NOC certificate I have as no message has come local police has done the verification but till yet I do not received message.
I have applied for Character Certificate on 24/6/2016 required for Job. Local Police station has approved. But still CFC approval is pending, on inquiring helpline no proper answer is given. First they said it will be issued in 2 to 3 days later on said it will be issued in one month. Making online is not resolving the speedy issue.
