Water Distribution :
We are committed to distributing water to the population in the MCGM operational limit as per National norms. We ensure that the quality of water supplied to our Connection Holder each day is in compliance with Indian Standard ISI 10500:2012.

Disruptions of Water Supply :
It is our aim to deliver uninterrupted normative water supply to all of you. However, there are times when you may experience some disruptions of supply mainly due to sudden network breakdown, leakages and network maintenance etc.

In such a scenario, we assure to keep you informed through all possible channels such as SMS / email / news channels and/or newspaper notifications etc.

Also, in such a case, restoration of supply is of paramount importance to us and we assure to adopt all possible means to minimize the interruption periods.

MCGM New Connections

We are committed to providing water connection to your property in a timely and cost effective manner.

The process of granting new connection from the date of receiving the application to actual release of water connection shall be completed within 15 working days, provided all documentations are in order.

The process of new water connection is made online on the internet. The citizens can apply for a new water connection using our online application. The list of documents required for new connection is also provided on the portal.

The 15-days count began on receipt of proper documents. The applicant can check his application status on the portal using the unique identification (IDN).

Billing :
** Water charges bills are generated using billing software based on Water Charges rules book. The rates are as per the categories such as Commercial/Domestic/Industrial, group code and rate code which are indicators of type of connection, purpose of connection, consumption.

Rate is charged per kilolitres of water consumed. Bills are generated either monthly or quarterly depending on quantity consumed. The water charges bills are generated printed and posted to the address of the consumer.

** MCGM has a policy which requires that every water connections must be metered; however, we have some registered unmetered connections, mainly in island city, for which the possibility of conversion into Metered connections is being explored.

At present such un-Metered connections are being levied Water Tax as a percentage of property tax.

** Our Meter Inspectors reads the meter on monthly or quarterly basis based on the billing cycle. In case, for whatever reason, your meter is not accessible for reading or faulty or damaged, our Meter Inspector will define your meter status and the bills will be raised on estimation.

The method of estimation to calculate the water consumption differs from one meter status to another and after due approval of competent authority and relevant process.
