What is Stage Carriage Permit?

Stage carriage means a motor vehicle constructed or adapted to carry more than six passengers excluding the driver for hire or reward at separate fares paid by or for individual passengers, either for the whole journey or for stages of the journey.

Stage carriage Permit is given to a bus operator to play the vehicle in a particular route. The route consists of stages where passengers can be picked up and dropped. These permits are issued under Government policies. The Government also decides about seasonal / monthly or confessional passes and fare from time to time temporarily. Owner of the vehicle can apply for Stage Carriage Permit.
