Documents Required For Ex-Servicemen Funeral Grant

Keep soft copy of the following Documents ready before applying for Funeral Grants:
** Death certificate in pdf format, size not exceeding 2 MB
** Bank Pass Book in pdf format, size not exceeding 2 MB
** Certificate from VAO for Funeral in pdf format, size not exceeding 2 MB
** NOC From Legal Heirs (if the applicant other than widow), size not exceeding 4 MB

Important Instructions

** Applications are received in person from 10.30 A.M to 01:00 P.M and for enquiry between 3.00 P.M to 4.00 P.M on all working days.
** For ONLINE Application, the applicants will have to furnish all the details required in the website.
** If all the details are filled up, one computer generated Acknowledge Number will be assigned to that particular application.
** A print out of the application must be taken by the applicant and submit the same in District Ex-Servicemen Welfare Office.
** If the applicant does not handover the application to District Ex-Service Welfare Office within 30 days, the application will automatically be cancelled.
** As per rule the prescribed application form should be completed, signed and presented by the applicant himself / herself, to whom the documents belong, during the specified timings and he / she should be ready to give any clarification / produce relevant documents sought for by the Authenticating Officer at the time of submission.
** The applicant should enclose Photo Copies of required Certificates along with the application form.
** Status of the progress on applications will be available in Online. The individuals should come in person and collect their ID.
** This Department is not responsible for ID Card not collected from the concern District Ex-Service Welfare Office within a reasonable amount of time.
** Do not contact any outsiders to process your application. Contact only the staff of District Ex-Service Welfare Office for any information / clarifications.
** In case, fake certificates are presented, the fake certificates will be seized and action will be taken against all concerned under the appropriate law.

Additional Simplified Procedure

You can apply for the Ex-Servicemen Funeral Grant online. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Go to the website of the Department of Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu.
2. Click on the Online Services tab and select Funeral Grant.
3. Click on the Apply Online button.
4. Fill up the online application form and attach the required documents in PDF format.
5. Submit the application form.
6. You will receive a confirmation email once your application has been submitted successfully.
7. The District Sainik Welfare Officer will verify your application and documents and submit them to the State Sainik Welfare Board for approval.
8. Once the application is approved, the funeral grant will be disbursed to your bank account.

Eligibility Criteria:
The following ex-servicemen and their dependents are eligible to apply for the Ex-Servicemen Funeral Grant in Tamil Nadu:
** Ex-servicemen who were domiciled in Tamil Nadu at the time of their death.
** Widows of ex-servicemen who were domiciled in Tamil Nadu at the time of their death.
** Unmarried daughters of ex-servicemen who are above the age of 18 years and are domiciled in Tamil Nadu.

Quantum of Grant:
The amount of the funeral grant is Rs. 10,000/-.

Time Limit For Applying:
The application for the funeral grant should be submitted within one year from the date of death of the ex-serviceman.
