What is Ashirwad Shagun Scheme?

The Ashirwad Shagun Scheme Punjab is a social welfare scheme launched by the Government of Punjab to provide financial assistance to economically disadvantaged girls belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SCs) and other minority communities at the time of their marriage. Under the scheme, eligible girls are provided with a one-time grant of Rs. 6,100.

Eligibility Criteria of Ashirwad Shagun Scheme

** Financial assistance of Rs. 21,000/- w.e.f 1-7-2017 is given to Scheduled Castes/Christian girls, Backward Classes/Castes, Economically weaker sections girls, daughters of widows of any caste at the time of their marriage and Scheduled Castes widows/divorcees at the time of their re-marriage.
** That the girl should be 18 years old or above.
** That the annual income of the family from all sources does not exceed Rs. 32,790/-.
** That parents/guardians of the girl should be domicile of Punjab State.
** Application can be given before the fixed date of marriage or after the 30 days of the marriage by the applicant for getting financial assistance.
** The amount of shagun (Now Ashirwad) is limited up to two girls of concerned family under the scheme.

How To Apply For Ashirwad Shagun Scheme?

Eligible girls can apply for the Ashirwad Shagun Scheme online through the official website of the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, Punjab. The application form can also be downloaded from the website and submitted to the nearest Tehsil Welfare Office.

Documents Required For Ashirwad Shagun Scheme

** Copy of the girl’s Aadhaar card.
** Copy of the girl’s birth certificate.
** Copy of the girl’s family income certificate.
** Copy of the girl’s caste certificate (if applicable).
** Copy of the marriage invitation card.

Disbursement of Grant:
Once the application is approved, the grant amount will be disbursed directly into the bank account of the girl or her guardian. The Ashirwad Shagun Scheme is a significant financial support for economically disadvantaged families in Punjab. It helps to reduce the burden of marriage expenses and encourages the education and empowerment of girls.
