The Karnataka State Gig Workers Insurance Scheme is a program that provides health and accidental death insurance to gig workers in the state.

Features of Karnataka State Gig Workers Insurance Scheme

** Insurance benefit for gig workers working in the state of Karnataka for the first time in the country.
** All eligible gig workers will be registered on the Sevasindhu Portal. (For registration click here)
** Insurance benefit available for on duty as well as off duty accidents.
** This benefit is completely free and need not to pay any

Eligibility of Karnataka State Gig Workers Insurance Scheme

Workers Eligible for Registration:
Food delivery boys of Swiggy, Zomato etc., and all unorganised gig workers engaged in delivery profession with e-commerce establishments such as Amazon, Flipkart, Porter, Pharmacy, Blinkit, Zepto, Big Basket, Domino’s, etc.

Criteria for Registration:
** 18 to 60 years of age.
** Should not be an income tax payer.
** Should not be a beneficiary of EPF and ESI.
** Engaged as gig worker (Delivery person) in Karnataka only.

Benefits of Karnataka State Gig Workers Insurance Scheme

** In case of accidental death- Rs.4.00 lakh inclusive of Accidental Insurance of Rs.2.00 lakh and Life Insurance of Rs.2.00. lakhs.
** In case of permanent disability due to accident – upto Rs.2.00 lakhs.
** Reimbursement of hospital expenses for accident cases – upto Rs.1.00 lakhs.
** Life insurance Rs.2.00 lakhs.

Documents Required For Karnataka State Gig Workers Insurance Scheme

** Aadhaar Number
** Identity Card/Pay slip/Bank Statement issued by establishments.
** E-Shram Registration Number (If not, has to register in eshram.gov.in and obtain registration card). (for eShram registration process click here).

Additional Simplified Procedure

Eligibility:
** Gig workers between 18 and 60 years old.
** Not under the tax bracket.
** Not currently receiving Employee Provident Fund (EPF) or Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) benefits.

Benefits:
** Rs. 4 lakh insurance coverage in total.
** Rs. 2 lakh for life insurance.
** Rs. 2 lakh for accidental death insurance (even off-duty).
** Rs. 1 lakh hospitalization expense reimbursement in case of an accident.

Application Process:
Apply on the Seva Sindhu portal. This will also register you in the gig worker database for the state.

Exclusions:
** Death by suicide.
** Death while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
** Death caused by intentional harm to others or due to mental instability.
