What is Suvidya School Management System?
“Suvidya” – School Management System. Cantonment Boards operate and run various schools across 52 Cantonments in the country to impart quality education and various skills to students of the locality. There are 194 schools under Cantonment Boards with primary to Sr. Secondary level presently. There are presently 63400 students enrolled in CB Schools.

Under the able leadership of Hon’ble Raksha Mantri and constant guidance and monitoring of Defence Secretary to enhance “Ease of living” for the citizens in the Cantonment areas, School Management System has been implemented in 194 Schools under the management of 52 Cantonment Boards in 15 States. The School Management System has been developed by DGDE in-house with some technical support of external consultants.

Deficiencies of Suvidya School Management System
However, SUVIDYA earlier had following two major deficiencies:
** Cantonment Board schools mainly provide education to children of poor strata of society. These children & their parents are not conversant with English.
** To make the system really useful to the Students and Cantt residents, a need was felt to provide system application in regional language.
** The system also worked in a standalone way and the architect lacked providing macro data at central or controlling level.
** Hence, the additional module to provide ‘Dashboard’ and ‘reporting’ system was felt necessary.
Note:
Keeping in view the requirements and suggestions of stakeholders, the functionalities of Suvidya is being enhanced by incorporating multilingual facility in 06 local languages i.e. Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi and Tamil. This is going to be one of the few applications in which students, teachers & parents will avail facility in regional language. The dashboard and reports for monitoring the performance of schools is also being incorporated in Suvidya. These functionalities will be rolled out on 16/12/2022 on the occasion of Defence Estates Day for 194 Schools under the management of 52 Cantonment Boards.
