1. No Objection Certificate (NOC) for Groundwater Abstraction
Industries, infrastructure projects, and mining operations that utilize groundwater are required to obtain permission from GWRMS for groundwater abstraction. Applications can be submitted online through the GWRMS portal, with guidelines and fee structures detailed in the Telangana Groundwater Extraction Guidelines 2023 .
2. Penalties for Non-Compliance
The system enforces penalties for various violations under the Telangana State Water, Land and Trees Act (TSWLTA), including:
** Telangana Groundwater Department : Non-installation or faulty digital water flow meters with telemetry systems.
** Telangana Groundwater Department : Non-disclosure or construction of additional groundwater abstraction structures.
** Telangana Groundwater Department : Non-submission of water level or quality data.
** Telangana Groundwater Department : Unauthorized construction of groundwater abstraction structures.
3. Registration of Drilling Rigs and Water Tankers:
The system facilitates the online registration of drilling rigs and water tankers, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting accountability in groundwater extraction activities.
4. Groundwater Tariffs:
As per the Telangana State Ground Water Extractions Rule-2023, tariffs have been introduced for groundwater extraction, replacing the previous free usage policy. These tariffs are based on recommendations from the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) and aim to promote sustainable groundwater use .
