Medical Facilities & Schemes For Employees:
For Project Staff:
Project staff and their dependents (Spouse and children) are extended OPD treatment from the Institute Hospital. Indoor treatment facility, and reimbursement is not available.

For Contract / Temporary Employees:
Full time Contract and Temporary Employees (Faulty/Staff) who are appointed for duration of one year or more are entitled for OPD Facility at I.I.T. Hospital for Self, Spouse and dependent Children.

For Retired Employees : ( C.M.S.)
** The Board of Governors, in its 168th meeting held on 20th November, 2001 has approved the scheme for the staff members who retired from Institute’s services before 30th June, 2003, have got the choice to opt for Contributory Medical Scheme or Rs.100/- p.m. Medical Allowance alongwith pension.
** The employees who opt for Contributory Medical Scheme will be eligible to avail lifelong OPD Medical facility at our Hospital for themselves and their spouse. OPD facilities include, Consultation with Medical Officers/Specialists, Pathology, X’ray, ECG, Sonography, surgery in minor O.T. (at OPD) , Physiotherapy etc., for which facilities are available or might become available at the hospital. Medicines available at the IIT Dispensary of the hospital will also be provided. However, no reimbursement of any kind will be made for medicines, which are not available, or for tests and examinations recommended outside I.I.T. Hospital.
** This scheme is made effective from January 2001.

Under this scheme reimbursement of premium of UTI Senior Citizen Unit Plan or Medi Claim scheme of GIC is also made as under:
1. One time payment to the extent of 50% of the premium paid by the retired employees for Medical Care i.e. hospitalization etc. for self and spouse.
OR
2. Under this scheme the employees may take out the Medical Insurance upto Rs.1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lac Only) per person i.e. Medi Claim of GIC for self and spouse for which staff will be reimbursed 50 % of the premium paid on renewal basis and may claim reimbursement of the annual premium.

Post Retirement Medical Scheme ( PRMS ):
The Board of Governors, in its 179th meeting held on 5th March, 2004 has approved a contributory scheme for medical benefits to employees who are onroll as on 30th June, 2003. As a special case, the staff members who opted to claim the reimbursement of premium towards UTI (SCUP) and Medi Claim Insurance were also allowed to switch over to this scheme. The objective of the scheme is to mainly provide hospitalization cover to the employees and spouse (after retirement). One can avail this scheme by paying nominal monthly contributions. Monthly contribution and medical reimbursement limit has been categorized on the basis of salary scale.

The medical reimbursement limit has been given below:-
** PRMS has provided an additional option to the OPD cover (Contributory Medical Scheme (C.M.S.)) which the Institute was offering.

The three options which are available now are :-
1. OPD treatment at IIT Hospital for self and spouse for lifetime on lumpsum payment as follows Group A & Officers – Rs.8000/-, Group B & C – Rs.6,000/- & Group D – Rs.4000/- OPD facilities include, Consultation with Medical Officers/Specialists, Pathology, X’ray, ECG, Sonography, surgery in minor O.T. (at OPD) , Physiotherapy etc., for which facilities are available or might become available at the hospital. Medicines available at the IIT Dispensary of the hospital will also be provided. However, no reimbursement of any kind will be made for medicines, which are not available, or for tests and examinations recommended outside I.I.T. Hospital.

OR:
2. Rs.100/- p.m. Medical allowance alongwith Pension / Family Pension.

OR:
3. Reimbursement of Medical Bills upto Rs.2,500/- per annum for self and spouse.

Limited Contributory Medical Scheme (LCMS):
Non-entitled parents/parents-in-law of the staff members can avail medical facility at IIT Hospital on payment of token deposit of Rs.2000/- per head per year or Rs.1000/- per head for six months. Entitlement on this basis include complete OPD facility including investigations and specialist consultation and if required, admission upto a duration of 24 hrs. only. For registration, institute administration section may be contacted.

Permanent Referral For Employee’S Family To Hospital Near Their Residence:
** Employees residing away from the Institute may obtain permanent referral for their family to hospital near their residence. The facilities of one hospital near employee’s residence, which is empaneled for 100% reimbursement can be availed for employee’s family members (OPD as well as In-patient).

** The employee can avail the same facility for himself/herself on holidays or outside IIT working hours for urgent treatment or empty stomach blood investigations.

Following facilities will not be allowed :-
Further reference from the said hospital to private/charitable hospitals (unless in emergency) for investigations or consultation.

Any major intervention except in emergency should be brought to the notice of SMO/MO (e.g. Surgery, MRI etc.) Concurrence from SMO should be obtained before undertaking the investigations.
