Where and for what purpose is it needed?:
A number of educational institutions reserve seats depending on the domicile status of the applicant. Similarly, benefits are also available in a number of cases of recruitment giving preference to local candidates. This certificate is needed to avail such benefits. This certificate may also be required by institutions giving loan as a proof of place of residence. Some organisations/institutions have different modalities for e.g. different fee structure for NRIs (Non Resident Indians) and require this certificate for checking purposes.

Where do I have to go and during which hours?:
To the office of Sub-Divisional Magistrate in whose jurisdiction you reside, during 9.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on any working day. Click Here to obtain the contact address of the SDM in whose jurisdiction in your colony lies.

What documents are required ?:
** Application form duly attested by Class-I Gazetted Officer of Delhi Govt./Central Govt.
** Voter-I-Card/Ration card – As proof of present residence.
** Affidavit in prescribed format.
** Proof of continuous stay in Delhi for the last 3 years, such as Education certificate, Electricity bill, House tax, Water bill etc.
** Proff of date of birth. (Date of birth certificate issued by MCD or 10th class certificate)

Important :
All documents needs to be attested by Gazetted Officer.

What is application fee ?:
NO FEE Required.

Where to apply ?:
You can approach to the SDM of your area or you can also approach to the concerned O/o the Deputy Commissioner during 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on any working day.

You can also APPLY ONLINE.

What will be the criteria used while deciding my case?:
After receiving the complete application, a draft order is sent to the attesting authority for verification. After receiving the positive verification report and after the confirmation of Class I Gezetted post of the attesting authority, Domicile Certificate is issued to the applicant.

What is the Response time ?:
Certificates are issued in 21 days.

About Us :
The districts correspond to the Police Districts. Each district is headed by a Deputy Commissioner, who has under him an Additional District Magistrate, Sub Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars and Sub-Registrar.

  1. I am Sakshi d/o Gayaram Mishra. I applied for domicile certificate on 08/06/2015 and proposed date was 28/06/2015 but till 13/07/2015 I dont get it. Please send it as early as possible
