Empowerment of Adolescent Girls (RGSEAG) SABLA:
The scheme aims at covering all out-of-school Adolescent Girls in the age group of 11 to 18 years who would assemble at the Anganwadi Centre on a fixed day at regular interval.

The others, i.e., school-going girls, meet at the AWC at least twice a month, and more frequently (once a week) during vacations/holidays. Here they receive life skills education, nutrition and health education, awareness about socio-legal issues, etc. This provides an opportunity for mixed group interaction between school-going and out-of-school girls, motivating the latter to also join school and help the school going to receive the life skills. This scheme mainly aims at reducing the dropout rate of Adolescent Girls by increasing their literacy rate and work participation.

Objective:
i. Enable the Adolescent Girls for self-development and empowerment;
ii. Improve their nutrition and health status;
iii. Promote awareness about health, hygiene, nutrition, Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health (ARSH) and family and child care;
iv. Upgrade their home-based skills, life skills and tie up with National Skill Development Programmes (NSDP) for vocational skills;
v. Mainstream out of school AGs into formal/non formal education;
vi. Provide information/guidance about existing public services such as PHC, CHC, Post Office, Bank, and Police Station.

Target Group:
In order to give age appropriate attention for certain components of ARSH & life skill education, the target group is divided in to two categories, viz 11-14 years & 15-18 years.

Services under the scheme:
There are two major components under the Scheme – Nutrition Component and Non Nutrition Component:
i) Nutrition Component: Take Home Ration for:
a)11-14 years: Out of school girls
b)14 -18 years: both out of school and school going girls

ii) Non Nutrition Component:
For Out of school Adolescent Girls: (2 – 3 times a week)
a) 11-18 years:
** IFA supplementation,
** Health check-up and Referral services,
** Nutrition Et Health Education (NHEd),
** Counselling / Guidance on family welfare, ARSH, child care practices –
** Life Skill Education and accessing public services

b) 16-18 Years:
** Vocational training under National Skill Development Programmes

For school going Adolescent Girls: (twice a month – average)
c) 11-18 years:
** Nutrition & Health Education (NHEd),
** Counselling / Guidance on family welfare, ARSH, child care practices
** Life Skill Education and accessing public services

Coverage:
Adolescent girls(11-18 years) in 9 selected districts viz. Koraput, Kalahandi, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Puri, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj and Bhadrak.

Financial Norms:
Rs. 3.80 lakh per ICDS project per annum for the non-nutrition component a THR@Rs. 5/- per Adolescent girl for 25 days in a month under the nutrition component.

About Us :
The Women and Child Development Department was created as a separate Department during 1994-95. Since inception, it has been working for the overall development of children and women through a host of specially designed schemes and programmes.

It also deals with schemes for the Senior Citizens and Persons with Disability. The year witnessed launch of some new schemes like MAMATA, Bhimabhoi Samarthya Abhiyan and systemic changes like strengthening of the Decentralized Feeding Programme of ICDS.
