Announcement For Haj

The process of application for Haj-2016 through Haj Committee of India (HCoI) shall commence on 14.01.2016. Booklets containing Guidelines and Haj Application Forms (HAF) shall be available free of cost from State / Union Territory Haj Committees (SHCs) or can be downloaded from hajcommittee.gov.in

Applicants must read the Guidelines carefully before filling up and submitting their HAFs. The filled up HAFs shall be accepted in the office of respective SHCs from 14th January, 2016 till 8th February, 2016, during working hours. The applicants must have a machine readable valid Indian International Passport issued on or before 08.02.2016 and valid at least up to 10.03.2017.

Eligibility For Haj:
Any citizen of lndia who is a Muslim, can apply for Haj except:
I) Any person not in possession of machine readable valid Indian international passport issued on or before 8th February, 2016 and valid at least upto 10th March, 2017.
ii) A person who has already performed Haj in any earlier year through HCoI. Thus there is a ban on Repeaters (exceptions are mentioned in para 2 above).
iii) Those who do not have the mental or physical health to perform the pilgrimage.
iv) Persons whose legs are amputated, who are crippled, handicapped, lunatic or otherwise physically/mentally incapacitated
v) Those afflicted with polio, tuberculosis, congestive cardiac & respiratory ailment, acute coronary insufficiency, coronary thrombosis, mental disorder, infectious leprosy, AIDS or any other communicable disease/disability.
vi) Ladies in advanced stage of pregnancy, especially those who are in such a stage at the time of outbound flight to the KSA.
vii) Ladies not accompanied by Sharai Mehram.
viii) A person against whom any Court has issued an order prohibiting travel abroad

Functions :
The Haj Committee of India commonly known as Central Haj Committee (CHC) has been established under the Haj Committee Act 2002, for making arrangements for the pilgrimage of Muslims for Haj, and for matters connected therewith. It is a body corporate having perpetual succession.

The Committee discharges the following main functions :
Every year, Haj Committee of India organises the All India Annual Conference for Haj. Chairmen & Secretaries of State Haj Committees. Senior Officers of the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Air India, attend the Conference.

The Conference reviews the arrangements of pervious Haj and deliberates upon and suggests improvements in the arrangements for next Haj. It also considers the calendar of activities/Action Plan for the next Haj.
