Renewal of Registration :

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
1.A doctor registered with Karnataka Medical Council working abroad for many years and has no plans to come back to Karnataka, for such doctors K.M.C. renewal is not necessary.

2.A doctor registered with K.M.C. staying aborad for many years and has plans to come back to Karnataka in near future, such doctors have to come to K.M.C. and revoke their registration when they start practising in Karnataka.

3.A doctor registered with K.M.C. and staying abroad from 2011 onwards, such doctors have to come to K.M.C. and revoke their registration when they start practising in Karnataka.

4.Any Non Resident Indian (NRI) practising in Karnataka from 2011 onwards. Such doctors are required to produce the necessary credit hours of renewal for their registration.

5.A doctor registered with K.M.C. working in India and abroad intermittently (From 2011 onwards). Such doctors need to accumulate the necessary credit hours for the period working in Karnataka. For the period of stay abroad they have to produce proof of residential stay abroad by means of their Passport and Visa stamping.

SHORTAGE OF CREDIT HOURS:
1.The period considered for credit hours by Medical Council of India is 5 years from May 2011 to April 2016. Hence, a minimum of 30 credit hours is compulsory for renewal of registration. However K.M.C. started awarding credit hours from January 2013. Therefore 21 credit hours from January 2013 will also be considered for renewal.

2.A doctor registered with K.M.C. and who has not accumulated any credit hours. Within an extended period of 6 months i.e., by 31st October 2016, the doctor has to accumulate the necessary 30 credit hours with a penalty of Rs.500/- month.

Eg:- A Doctor accumulates 30 credit hours by 31st October 2016 then he/she is eligible for renewal of registration with a penalty of Rs.3000/-.

However, if the registered practitioner accumulates necessary credit hours before stipulated time, he/she is eligible for renewal and no further penalty will be applicable.
Eg:- Doctor accumulates 30 credit hours by 31st July, then he / she is eligible for renewal of registration with a penalty of Rs.1500/-

3.A doctor registered with K.M.C. has shortage of few credit hours. [Same as above no.(2)]

PROCESS OF RENEWAL :

The process of renewal of K.M.C. registration starts from 1st May 2016. All registered practitioners are hereby requested to go through the following points carefully:-
i)The renewal process is applicable for medical practitioners who have registered their MBBS degree before 1st May 2011.
ii)Renewal of registration will be done at all district centres. Place, date and time will be announced on the K.M.C. website.
iii)Registered practitioners can choose their place (district) of renewal according to their convenience.
iv)All registered practitioners should take appointment for renewal through K.M.C. website karnatakamedicalcouncil.com

v)All registered practitioners should appear physically at renewal booth on the chosen, date and time at district renewal booth with all the original copies of below mentioned documents.

vi)The following documents have to be produced at the Renewal booth which will be scanned and uploaded:-
a.K.M.C. registration certificate.
b.CME certificates
c.Address proof either Aadhar, Passport or Election ID.
d.Age proof either SSLC Marks Card or Passport.
e.Demand Draft for Rs.1,500/- drawn in favour of Registrar, K.M.C. payable at Bangalore.
f.Work certificate (from Head of the Institution for medical college teachers & Post Graduates)
g.Personnel coming under Exemption criteria to produce supporting document (refer K.M.C. official website)

vii)At the renewal booth, photo, thumb impression and signature of the registered practitioner will be captured.
viii)All the documents will be verified.
ix)All the registered practitioners have to surrender their original K.M.C. registration certificate for which an acknowledgment will be generated.

x)The above generated acknowledgement has to be preserved until you receive new original K.M.C. certificate along with a K.M.C. Smart card which will be sent to registered practitioner’s address mentioned in the renewal form by registered post.

    I have KMC registration done in 2012. I am working as a Professor of Orthopaedics since 2011 at JN Medical college Belgavi.
    I need to renew my registration but unable to do so on line.
    Please guide me

    I am in London since Jan 2016 and preparing for examination. I would like to know if I need to register as I am not practicing. Before this I was in Kochi Kerala. Please guide me.
