Procedure for Renewal of Registration Certificate (RC) :
Step 1 :
Purchase the ‘Renewal of Registration Certificate’ File from the R&LA Sale Counter OR

Step 2 :
Read the instructions mentioned in the File/Forms carefully.

Step 3 :
Complete and attach all the required Documents/Forms as per the Checklist.

Step 4 :
Get your Vehicle Inspection (Passing) conducted by the Motor Vehicle Inspector.

Step 5 :
Obtain a Token from the RC counter at the concerned R&LA Office.

Step 6 :
Submit your complete file & fees at the concerned counter (as per your Token No.) & collect your File Receipt.

Step 7 :
Your Registration Certificate (RC) will be dispatched to you via Speed Post, and will be delivered at your given address.

Note :
** This is a downloaded File. In order to deposit the same, the applicant has to collect the ‘File receipt’ from the R&LA File Sale Counter after depositing the concerned File Fee.
** Please bring the original documents whose attested photocopies have been attached with the file.

3. Fitness Certificate (In original, issued by an authorized dealer).

6. Chassis & Engine Pencil Print (Plate prints not acceptable)
7. Copy of valid Insurance Certificate (Self attested, with address as on RC)
8. Signature Identification of owner (Showing the signatures in Driving Licence/PAN card/Identity card or specimen signatures attested by Gazetted Officer/Executive Magistrate alongwith latest photograph)

The seller has to get an NOC of the vehicle from U.T., Chandigarh for the other State.

Yes, in case of Vehicle theft, the owner/applicant can request to lock the Registration record in thecomputer system so that no one can transfer the ownership of that vehicle.
