Step 1 :
Purchase the ‘Duplicate Registration Certificate’ File from the R&LA Sale counter

Download this File/requisite Forms from this website as per the Checklist.

Step 2 :
Read the instructions mentioned in the File/Forms carefully.

Step 3 :
Complete and attach all the required Documents/Forms as per the Checklist.

Step 4 :
Obtain a Token from the RC counter at the concerned R&LA Office.

Deposit the complete file and fees at the concerned counter (as per your Token No.) & collect your File Receipt

Step 6 :
Your Registration Certificate (RC) will be dispatched to you via Speed Post, and will be delivered at your given address.

Note :
** This is a downloaded File. In order to deposit the same, the applicant has to collect the ‘File receipt’ from the R&LA File Sale Counter after depositing the concerned File Fee.
** Please bring the original documents whose attested photocopies have been attached with the file.

1. Form No. 26 PDF (Application for the issue of Duplicate Certificate of Registration) (Stamp signed, in case the vehicle is still financed)
2. Police Report/ DDR (In original, or self attested photocopy)
3. Chassis & Engine Pencil Print (Plate prints not acceptable)
4. Copy of valid Insurance Certificate (Self attested, with address as on RC)
5. Owner’s Undertaking (for Duplicate Registration Certificate alongwith latest photo, self attested)
6. Old Registration Certificate Report (In case of old/ laminated Registration Certificate, from the concerned counter)
7. Signature Identification of owner (Showing the signature in driving licence/pan card/Identity card or specimen signatures attested by Gazetted Officer/Executive Magistrate with latest photo attested)
8. Authorization, in case of Proprietorship/ Private Limited/ Limited/ Partnership Firms (If applicable, for details,”Click Here”)

FAQs :
How to get the vehicle registered after the expiry of a Temporary Number?
If the vehicle is not registered within one month then an Undertaking is required in this regard, and if the delay is for three month or more, then a NCRB/MOB Report is required from the Police Headquarters, Sector 9, Chandigarh.

Is it necessary that the registered owner has to be available at the time of every transaction of vehicle?
Yes, the applicant has to personally come for depositing the file in the office.

If the applicant is not able to come personally, is there any provision that another person can deposit the file/ documents in the office?
Yes, if the applicant cannot come personally, then he/she has to give an Authority Letter to another person with their signatures, who can then deposite the file/ documents in the office.

Can I keep only the photocopies of registration certificates in the vehicle?
You should keep original registration certificate in your vehicle and keep the photocopies at your home. You can be prosecuted for not having original documents with you in the vehicle

From whom should I get the Insurance Policy?
You can get the Insurance Policy from any authorized agent of Insurance of your choice who can provide you service at the time of risk and can help you in the process of claim formalities.
