What is Marriage Registration?

Marriage registration is one of the most important tasks connecting to a wedding. Marriages are registered in the State of Goa under the Code of Civil Registration irrespective of their religions. Marriage Registration offers a juridical status to the marriages under the law. Marriage could be proved by the certificate of marriage issued by Civil Registrar.

How To Register Marriage in Goa?

Signing up for MRS is easy – all you need is to fill the Form given on respective website and Login Id will be given to you for further process through SM

Steps:
** Open website https://reg.goa.gov.in
** Click on Applicant Registration
** Click on Applicant Login
** Enter Groom, Bride and Parents Details
** Enter witness details in case of born outside Goa, Bride aged 18 to 21 and illiterate.
** Enter interpretor details in case of Blind and Deaf
** Upload Mandatory Documents
** Submit Application online for Verification
** Make Online Payment after application is accepted by Sub-Registrar
** Book Appointment for Marriage Declaration
** Visit the office for Marriage Declaration signing on the appointed date
** Waiting Period of 15 days or Permission from Assistant Public Prosecutor (If objections not recieved)
** Book Second Appointment for Final Registration and visit the office for Final Marriage Registration in case of Civil Marriage
** Priest Certificate and Letter from Church in case of Cannonical Marriage
** Marriage Certificate will be issued

I am waiting for the OTP, but I haven’t received it for more than 5 minutes. What should I do?
While using MRS, the OTP is sent instantaneously. Sometimes there may be temporary problems either on our servers (while generating/sending OTP) or in delivery of the SMS by your mobile service provider. We suggest you wait for a few more minutes and try again. There may be event that SMS packs may get exhausted in such event the department takes care of that.

I have forgotten my username/password. What should I do?
To recover your username/password Contact to Your Department they will reset your Password then go to Generate Password Page and enter your User Id after that you can set your New Password

What type of files can be uploaded?
File types that can be uploaded – only Pdf files.

Registering your marriage in Goa can be done through either online or offline methods. Here’s a breakdown of both processes:

Online Registration:
1.Visit the Goa Marriage Portal: Head to https://reg.goa.gov.in/ and explore the “Marriage Registration” section.
2.Create an account: Register yourself on the portal if you haven’t already.
3.Fill out the application form: Provide all the required details accurately, including information about yourself, your spouse, witnesses, and parents (if applicable).
4.Upload documents: Scan and upload all the necessary documents as per the checklist provided on the portal. These typically include:
** Identity proofs (Aadhaar card, PAN card, etc.) for both spouses and witnesses.
** Address proofs (residence certificate, utility bills, etc.) for both spouses.
** Marriage photographs.
** Age proof (birth certificate, school leaving certificate, etc.) if either spouse is below 21 years old.
** Special documents specific to your religion or community (if applicable).
5.Pay the fees: Make the online payment for the registration charges.
6.Schedule an appointment: Choose a date and time for your physical appearance at the designated Civil Registration Office.
7.Visit the office: On the chosen date, visit the Civil Registration Office with all the original documents, printed application form, and fee payment receipt.
8.Finalize the registration: The marriage registrar will verify your documents and witness your signatures. Upon successful verification, you’ll receive your marriage registration certificate.

Offline Registration:
** Visit the Civil Registration Office: Locate the Civil Registration Office in your taluka (district). You can find the addresses and contact details on the Goa Marriage Portal.
** Collect the application form: Obtain the marriage registration application form from the office.
** Fill out the form: Provide all the required information mentioned earlier for online registration.
** Attach documents: Submit all the necessary documents mentioned earlier along with the completed application form.
** Pay the fees: Make the payment for the registration charges at the office counter.
** Schedule an appointment: Fix a date and time for your marriage ceremony and subsequent registration at the office.
** Marriage ceremony: Conduct your marriage ceremony as per your religious or personal beliefs on the scheduled date.
** Register the marriage: Visit the Civil Registration Office again with your spouse, witnesses, and the marriage officiant (if applicable). The officiant will sign the marriage register, and you’ll receive your registration certificate.
