What is DGFT Import Management System?

DGFT through its power under the FTDR Act notifies various restrictions or quota or conditions on import of goods into India. These restrictions may require a authorisation or registration be applied for and approved prior to the given imports. The modules here allow importers to apply for import licences, quotas and other registrations which are issued by DGFT. You may choose to apply and monitor all such applications through the given modules. Some such modules covered herein are Import authorisation for Restricted Items, Steel Import Monitoring System (SIMS), Import License for Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ), Registration Certificates besides others.

Services Under DGFT Import Management System

Import Authorisation for Restricted Imports:
Items which are Restricted under the ITC(HS) Import Policy requires a authorisation prior to the importation. May refer to the Regulatory Updates ITC/HS based Import Policy for policy details. Application for consideration of an authorisation by the Exim Facilitation Committee(EFC) at DGFT submitted here.

Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ):
DGFT has notified Tariff Rate Quotas (TRQ) on import of specific items. A TRQ allows a lower tariff rate on imports of a given product upto a specified quantity. May refer to para 2.61 & 2.107 of the HBP for details. To apply for TRQ please proceed here.

Registration Certificate for Imports:
Registration Certificate (RC) may be applied for in cases of transitional arrangements as per para 1.05(b) of the Foreign Trade Policy. RC may also be required under any other provisions of policy as updated from time-to-time.

Steel Import Monitoring System:
An import policy has been adopted for specific iron and steel items appearing in Chapter 72, 73 and 86 of ITC (HS), 2017. Registration applications in this regard may be submitted here.

Registration applications in regard of import of coal may be submitted here. The given module is not maintained by DGFT.

Registration applications in regard of import of copper/aluminum may be submitted here. Any issues on account of difficulties faced in filing online registrations need to be raised to Shri A.K Malik, Under Secretary, Ministry of Mines at 011-23384743 or Deepali Sharma, Young Professional, Ministry of Mines at 011-23384223 or mail at nfmims-mines@gov.in for support. Chip Import Monitoring System:
Registration applications in regard of import of chip may be submitted here. The given module is not maintained by DGFT.

Frequently Asked Questions FAQ On Restricted Imports System

Q1. What is a Restricted Item?
All goods, import of which is permitted only with an Authorisation / Permission / License or in accordance with the procedure prescribed in a notification / public notice are ‘Restricted’ goods.

Q2. Where are the ‘Restricted’ items listed?
The list of ‘Restricted’ items is available in the Import,Export & SCOMET Policy in the Regulatory Updates section in DGFT website at http://dgft.gov.in/CP/.

Q3. What are the prerequisites for applying for a Restricted Imports authorisation?
To apply for RESTRICTED IMPORTS, following are required:
** Your user profile must be linked with an IEC.
** A valid DSC must be registered in the system. You may verify the same from My Dashboard > View and Register Digital Signature Token.

Q4. If my IEC is in DEL/cancelled/suspended, am I eligible to apply for the authorisation?
** If your IEC is in DEL, you shall be allowed to proceed with submission of your request for issuance of the authorisation, however, your application shall only be actioned upon once your IEC is removed from DEL.
** If your IEC is cancelled/suspended, you shall not be allowed to proceed with submission of your request for the issuance of the authorisation.

Q5. I couldn’t complete my application, however, I had saved it after filing it partially. Where can I find it? OR Where can I find my partially filled application?
Please follow the below path to access your draft applications for Restricted Importss My Dashboard > Draft Applications. Click on Action (Under the Results) > Open

Q6. What is an application number? Where can I find it?
When an application is created and saved for the first time, an application number gets created. All draft applications have an application number. The same can be found by following the below path: My Dashboard > Draft applications

Q7. What is a file number? Where can I view my submitted applications/File number?
When an application is submitted, a file number is generated. The application is tracked via this file number.

Please follow the below path to get the file number for Restricted Imports Authorisation
** My Dashboard > Submitted Applications
** Enter Type of Scheme (Select in dropdown: Restricted Importss) and Type of Sub Scheme (Issuance of Restricted Imports Authorisation) Click on Search.
** All details of submitted applications are available in the search results. These details also include their file number.
