Grievance Redressal Mechanism For Passport Services:
Under the Passport Seva Project (PSP), the the Ministry has put in place a citizen -friendly, strengthened Grievance Redressal System to ensure quick friendly, strengthened Grievance Redressal System to ensure quick redressal of public grievances.

The following mechanism, which has been set redressal of public grievances. Feedback/Suggestion:
(1) Passport portal ( .passportindia.gov.in): Applicants are welcome to give feedback/suggestion through passport portal under link: .passportindia.gov.in>Information/Feedback/grievance>Feedback

(2) Passport Seva Kendra- Applicant may give suggestion/feedback through the suggestion/feedback boxes placed at PSKs.

(3) CPGRAMS- Through CPGRAMS portal (www.pg.portal.gov.in), the applicant may also give their feedback with reference to grievance registered on CPGRAMS.

FAQs :
1. What are the various passport services and which form has to be filled in?
The various passport services are :
1. Issue of Fresh Passport : You can apply for fresh passport if applying for the first time.
2. Re-issue of Passport : You can apply for re-issue of passport if you want another passport in lieu of an existing passport for any of the following reasons:
** Change in existing personal particulars.
** Validity expired within 3 years/ Due to expire.
** Validity expired more than 3 years ago.
** Exhaustion of pages.
** Damaged passport.
** Lost passport.

While applying under Fresh Issuance category – please make sure you never held a Passport of the applied category (i.e. Ordinary Passport, Diplomatic Passport or Official Passport) in the past.

For instance, if you ever held an Ordinary passport (Deep Blue colour) in the past but never held any Diplomatic (maroon colour) or Official (white colour) passport – you need to apply under Reissue category if applying for an Ordinary Passport while choose the Fresh category if applying for a Diplomatic or Official passport.

Similarly, if you have/held a Diplomatic (or Official) Passport but do not have/held an Ordinary Passport – you need to apply for Ordinary Passport under Fresh category while choose the Reissue category if applying for Diplomatic (or Official) passport.

3. Miscellaneous Service :
** Issue of Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)
** Background Verification for GEP : Miscellaneous Passport Service to conduct vetting of the Passport and Police/Criminality check for Indian Citizens willing to enrol for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Global Entry Program (GEP). Refer link goes-app.cbp.dhs.gov for details

2. What types of passports are issued in India?
Following three types of passports are issued in India :
1. Ordinary Passport : An ordinary passport has blue cover, and consists of 36 or 60 pages. It is valid for 10 years from the date of issue and can be renewed for another 10 years. An Indian citizen can use this passport for ordinary vacation or business travel.

2. Diplomatic Passport : Has maroon cover ; Issued to designated members of the national government, judiciary , statutory authorities, diplomats, official public couriers and any other person specifically authorised by the Govt

3. Official Passport : Has grey cover ; Issued to designated Non-gazetted govt servants or any other person specifically authorised by the Govt deputed abroad on government business.

3. How do I apply for a passport in the new system?
For issue of fresh passport and re-issue of passport, you need to fill the application form online via e-Form Submission (preferred) or via Online Form Submission. For Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) also you need to fill the Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) Application Form online via e-Form Submission (preferred) or via Online Form Submission.

Under the new system it is mandatory for all applicants, including infants, to be physically present at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) to give their biometrics(fingerprints) and photographs.
